PM Sharif, Attorney General discuss Musharraf treason case

ISLAMABAD: Attorney General Munir A Malik called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday to discuss different legal matters and the governments reply submitted in the Supreme Court.

According to sources, the government’s future course of action in regards to initiating a treason trial against former president, General (retd) Pervez Musharraf was also discussed.

On Monday, Prime Minister Sharif while addressing the National Assembly had said that the government would try Musharraf for treason under Article 6 of the constitution. The decision was met with widespread support from the opposition.

The Supreme Court had also directed Attorney General Malik to submit a written reply within three days regarding what measures would be taken to initiate proceedings.
