ISLAMABAD: The join investigation team probing the assassination of former prime minister Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto has recorded the statement of Pakistan People’s Party leader Rehman Malik.
Mr Malik, who was security advisor to BB, told the investigators that BB was murdered due to lack of security.
Malik didn’t record his statement despite being the interior minister during PPP’s five years in the government.
His statement has been made part of the challan (charge-sheet), recently submitted to the anti-terrorism court.
Rehman Malik said in his statement that former president Pervez Musharraf in two meetings in Dubai, which took place in his presence, advised Benazir Bhutto not to return to Pakistan before the 2008 election.
He, however, said the former military dictator was disappointed over the BBs’ refusal to accept his demand.
