PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) Thursday summoned secretary of Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) over a contempt of court allegation, Geo News reported.

A division bench, comprising Chief Justice PHC Dost Mohammad Khan and Justice Qaiser Rasheed heard a writ petition, submitted by Public Relation Officer (PRO) of Governor KP Mohammad Hanif.

The PRO stated in the writ petition that secretary of Governor KP Abid Majeed, overstepping his authority, had illegally stopped him from discharging his duties and sent him out of the Governor House.

The court declared the move of secretary illegal and instructed him to resume work on the same position. However, the secretary refused to abide by the court’s order, which is tantamount to a contempt of court.

Chief Justice PHC ordered secretary of Governor KP to appear before the court and explain his position.
