PESHAWAR: The Central Executive Committee (CEC) of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has asked the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pervez Khattak and KP government spokesman Shaukat Yousufzai to keep only one of their positions – either of the party or the KP administration.
According to sources, Pervez Khattak said in his response that he could relinquish the position of CM but not of the party.
The CEC of PTI took the above decision at a meeting chaired by the party chairman Imran Khan. The sources said that the logic behind this decision was the apprehension that keeping two positions could pose a difficulty towards doing justice to both.
To this, Pervez Khattak responded by expressing readiness to abandon the position of CM and to retain the party rank of Central General Secretary.
However, the CEC of PTI has not reached any final decision in this regard and it will take up the matter in its next meeting.
