Railways fares decreased: Rafique
LAHORE: Railways fares for AC sleeper and AC business class have been decreased, while the fare for economy class remains unchanged.

During a news conference at the Railways headquarters here, Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique announced the decision to decrease fares. For the next three months, fares on all trains excluding the Karakorum Express will be decreased by 17-57 percent. The lowest fare on the branch line has been decreased to Rs20.

Rafique said Railways has received Rs1.57 billion from China which was to be used for the purchase of 75 locomotives, while Rs30 million had also been received from the Punjab government.

He said the per day deficit of the Railways had come down to Rs90 million while the 80 percent of departure and arrival times would be fixed by the end of the year.
