KARACHI: Two persons were injured when the roof of a CNG filling station came down at Nipa intersection while a child was electrocuted in Paposh area due to heavy rainfall that lashed Karachi Saturday morning, Geo News reported.
According to sources, the roof of a CNG station collapsed at Nipa intersection that injured two persons who were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. A child was also injured in Malir area in another incident.
In Paposh area, a child was electrocuted while playing in the rainwater.
The Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) also informed that 102 feeders have tripped across the city, plunging many areas into darkness. However, the repair work will be initiated soon after the downpour will stop, KESC sources told.
Heavy rainfall with thunderstorm lashed Karachi today morning disrupting the traffic flow in many areas and causing difficulties to the commuters, however, it decreased the temperature in the city turning the weather pleasant.
Rainwater filled the streets and roads of many areas including Old City Area, Defence, II Chundrigar Road, Nazimabad, Steel Town, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Shahra-e-Faisal, Landhi and the areas adjoining University Road and Airport Road.
The met department has forecast more rainfall in the next 24 hours.
According to the weather report issued by Pakistan Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature is expected to remain in the range of 32 to 34 degree celsius.
Rain with thunderstorm is likely to occur in scattered places with a few moderate to heavy falls in Sibi, Nasirabad and Kalat divisions, at isolated places in Zhob, Makran, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas and Hyderabad divisions, at one or two places in Quetta divisions.
