KARACHI: Three police officials including DSP Qasim Ghauri embraced martyrdom during an encounter with armed culprits near Safari Park in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of Karachi Thursday morning, Geo News reported.
According to police sources, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Qasim Ghauri and two assistant sub-inspectors were martyred when an encounter took place in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area near Safari Park. Two other policemen were also injured during the action.
The injured policemen were shifted to the hospital for treatment.
Sindh Police spokesman SSP East Imran Shaukat said all the three armed men were killed.
He the said the three were dacoits and identified as Paryal Chandio, a notorious dacoit, Umeed Ali and Elahi Chachar. He said that all the accused were absconders.
The spokesman said that police and Rangers took part in the operation, which continued for several years.
Earlier sources informed that at least 300 policemen were taking part in the operation against accused hiding in the adjoining suburban area of Hussain Hazara and Muhammadi Goth.
