Flood-hit Muridke-Narowal road temporarily restored

SHEIKHUPURA: Muridke-Narowal road, which was washed out in flash flood in Tehsil Muridke here, has by now been temporarily restored, Geo News reported Sunday.

Several villages were inundated by flood in Nullah Dek, while the contingents of Pak army have also arrived for relief and rescue work.

Nullah Dek flooded water hitting vast area of Pusroor and Narowal now also wreaking havoc in Sheikhupura and Gujranawala, standing crops swept away, graveyards submerged and mosques hit in the villages, while the people with their livestock have been forced to leave their hearths and homes.

On the other hand, while plugging the breach in Nullah Dek, fibre optic was damaged that left the communication system completely cut off from Narang Mandi to other parts of the country, which by now has been restored.

Government rescue teams were seen busy in rescue work for the whole day in flood- affected areas by shifting people to safe places, while Army soldiers have also arrived to help the hapless peasants in the inundated villages.

Flash floods have devastated crops worth millions and has made the poor peasants lives more miserable, as they fear that their mud/bricks houses might collapse in the onrush of flood water.
