ISLAMABAD: Sikander, the gunman responsible for the Islamabad standoff is recovering at the PIMS hospital where his condition is said to be improving, however doctors have decided to keep him in the ICU, Geo News reported Sunday.
Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital spokesperson said that Sikander was stable and conscious, he was talking and his condition is out of danger.
However, Doctor Waseem Khawaja said that he would be kept in the ICU for another few days and the doctors’ team will decide when he is to be discharged from the ICU.
The PIMS hospital spokesperson added that Sikander will be undergone psychiatric testing today (Sunday) and in the meantime no one will be allowed to meet him as his security has been further beefed up.
The inquiry committee constituted by the Interior Minister has recorded statements of concerned police and district administration officers who have clearly testified that they had orders from the Interior Minister to arrest Sikander alive. They had prepared a strategy in line with the orders, to disarm Sikander, but Zamurud Khan’s intervention foiled their strategy. The Inquiry Committee will present its report to the Interior Minister tomorrow (Monday).
On the other hand, Chief Justice of Pakistan has taken a suo motu notice of the incident and will begin hearing the case from Monday.
