HYDERABAD: A case was registered against the policeman who had allegedly shot and killed a fruit vendor only for not bribing him here on Saturday.
According to sources, a police constable, Prail, almost everyday had the fruit vendor, Abdul Ghafar, grease his palm for allowing him to do business in Saddar Bazaar Hyderabad.
Fed up by Prail’s unremitting extortion, a desperate Ghaffar, on Saturday, called it a day, which maddened the corrupt cop to the extent that he shot the poor guy in the chest with his service weapon.
Ghaffar was rushed to the hospital but he could not survive.
According to a senior police official a case has been registered against the accused.
“The policeman is under arrest and we are trying to get to the bottom of the matter”, said he.
On the other hand the accused cop pleading innocent claimed he was an epileptic and had fallen to the ground after suffering a seizure at that time, adding he said that he had no idea how his gun went off.
