Leaving presidency with sense of accomplishment, says Zardari
ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has said that the PPP will extend fullest support to the PML-N government in tackling challenges like terrorism and economic recovery.

He was speaking at a dinner he hosted in Islamabad on Monday night in honour of journalists.

The President said being the opposition it is right of the PPP to criticise the government but it will back the government in all its positive moves.

He said he was leaving the presidency after five years with a sense of accomplishment as he looked after transition to democracy and transferred his powers to the Parliament.

He said he has no regrets as transition to democracy means strengthening the democracy and ultimately Pakistan would be the winner.

The President said the country can progress and prosper if there is continuity and carrying forward of the policies like consolidation of relations with China is one such example of continuity. He said rarely in the history of the country anyone left the Presidency with grace but he was leaving it with peace.

The President acknowledged that there might have been failures but added that transition to democracy is a big achievement. He said scarce resources of the country were major hurdle in the way of implementation of his welfare agenda.

The President said media has matured and there is insight in its discussions and programmes.
