ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader in the National Assembly, Khursheed Shah responded to the MQM’s demand of seeking the deployment of army in Karachi by stating that this would be a slap on the face of democracy.
Shah added that a non-democratic demand by any party could result in a huge political mistake. According to Shah, the MQM demand could be part of a conspiracy.
MQM chief, Alatf Hussain had called upon Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to hand control of Karachi to the army citing the failure of the Sindh government to maintain law and order. Mr Hussain’s demands were echoed by MQM leader, Dr Farooq Sattar in the National Assembly.
