KARACHI: Both the major parties of Sindh – Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) – will have representation at the upcoming Federal Cabinet’s meeting.
According to government sources, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Shah will be representing PPP while MQM will be represented by Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan at the forthcoming Federal Cabinet’s meeting over Karachi’s law and order situation.
However, the MQM Rabitta (Coordination) Committee in a statement said that the Governor, being a representative of the Federation, cannot represent any political party under the Constitution and law.
Meanwhile, sources said that consultations over Karachi’s situation were being held with all the political parties including MQM today.
It is pertinent to mention here that government’s invitation to MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar to attend the Federal Cabinet meeting was withdrawn earlier today.
