KARACHI: In the wake of Supreme Court (SC) orders, the Chief Secretary Sindh, Eijaz Chaudhary, Thursday ordered to get all the CCTV cameras in order and to install more cameras at the earliest, Geo News reported.
A meeting, chaired by Chief Secretary Eijaz Chaudhary, was held here for the installation of new CCTV cameras and fixing the ones which have failed to function properly.
The officials of police, information technology department, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and other concerned authorities attended the meeting.
Eijaz Chaudhary passed the instructions to immediately make all the CCTV cameras operational. The meeting was told that Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) and KMC had installed 168 cameras in the metropolis.
“The work for installing 910 more cameras from the Governor’s special program was underway”, the representatives of CPLC and KMC informed.
The meeting was further told that the police were using 885 cameras for surveillance, while IT department had handed over 200 cameras to traffic management a year ago.
