LOWER DIR: Pakistani security forces killed at least 12 militants in a skirmish near Pakistan-Afghan border late on Saturday night, Geo News reported.
According to military sources, the border security forces were policing the area when they encountered a group of heavily armed insurgents and engaged them in a gun-battle.
By the time the exchange of fire came to an end around 12 extremists were killed several more were injured while the rest headed for the hill leaving the casualties behind.
The military also suffered a couple of minor hits.
"Two of the troops who fought off the belligerent radicals were injured during the clash", the sources said.
