Honour to be nominated for Nobel Peace Prize: Malala

NEW YORK: Malala Yousafzai said Thursday that being nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize was a huge honour, but for her the real important part was that people from around the world had supporter her.

In an interview to a Canadian TV channel, Malala said she was happy that people from Pakistan, America, Britain, India and other countries had supported her.

In another interview to John Stewart on US TV channel Comedy Network, Malala said she realised the importance of education when she was stopped from going to school. Malala added that this also proved that terrorists were afraid of education.

According to Malala, she raised her voice when the rights of women were undermined. “I believe in equality, and there is no difference between men and women.” Malala told Stewart that she thought women were more powerful than men.

The 16-year-old is one of the front runners for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize which will be announced on Friday (October 11).
