Attacks on Imambargahs in Gujranwala spark protest

GUJRANWALA: Three people including an Imam of a Mosque were killed in two separate incidents of firing at Imambargahs in Gujranwala on Saturday morning.

According to police, the incident took place when unidentified men opened fire in an Imambargah located in Shahrukh Colony, killing the Imam of the Mosque.

In another incident of firing, another Imambargah located in Mominpur area was attacked in which two people were killed.

The eyewitnesses said the accused fired gunshots with a silencer fitted pistol and managed to escape.

The heirs of victims and enraged people staged a protest demonstration by putting bodies on the street at Alam Chowk Bypass.

Some protestors also tried to get shops closed in the area.
