Troops deployed as rival groups clash in Multan
MULTAN: The Pakistan Army was called in after a clash between two groups on Saturday (morning).

Situation remained tense through the day as Lathi bearing men marched the streets of the city and forced the shopkeepers to close their shops. They also resorted to aerial firing and vandalized some shops prompting police to use teargas.

Two people were reported injured in Nala Wali Muhammad while the most affected areas of the city included Bohar Gate, Hussain Aagahi, Chowk Ghanta, Fawara Chowk, Nawan Sher, Gilgisht and Gardezi market.

The civil administration called in army to maintain the law and order situation. It is to mention here that the civil administration could call the army in aid of civil power.

A sectarian clash left seven people dead in Rawalpindi on Friday after which a curfew has been clamped in parts of the garrison town.
