KARACHI: Maulana Tanvirul Haq Thanvi of Muttahida Bainul Muslimeen denounced the Friday’s Rawalpindi tragedy which left several people dead and dozens injured, Geo News reported Saturday.
Talking to media persons, Maulana Tavirul Haq Thanvi termed the violence in Rawalpindi on the occasion of Yaum-e-Ashur as tragic and demanded of the concerned authorities to nab the culprits and bring them to justice.
He appealed to the people to observe calm.
Authorities imposed a curfew in the city of Rawalpindi, where sectarian clashes on Friday left nine people dead and more than 60 injured, and spawned retaliatory violence in at least two other cities.
Earlier, the city district administration relaxed the curfew from 9pm Saturday till midnight.
