Gujrat University director, driver gunned down

GUJRAT: The director of the University of Gujrat and his driver were gunned down in route from his house to office.

According to police, unknown armed men on motorbikes stopped the vehicle of Syed Shabbir Hussain Shah on Jalalpur road. Mr Shah and his driver were made to get off the vehicle and shot. The gunmen fled from the scene following the attack.

The public relations officer of the university while speaking to Geo News said that Mr Shah had been receiving threats and the district administration had been informed several times but no security was provided.

After receiving news of Mr Shah’s killing, students held a protest and burnt tyres.
