Rawalpindi Tragedy: Fact finding committee completes initial report
RAWALPINDI: The fact finding committee formed by the Punjab government and tasked to probe the Rawalpindi tragedy on 10th Moharram has completed its initial report, Geo News reported Monday.

Sources told that the report held the administration and police responsible for the tragedy and stated that police tried to disperse the crowd but the miscreants attacked security forces.

Chief Minister Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif had constituted a three-member team to ascertain the facts related to the incident. The team was headed by former chairman of CM’s monitoring team, Najam Saeed, and tried to determine the facts with the help of videos and evidence collected from the location.

The team was tasked to present a report within seven days.

Sources told Geo News that the committee held the administration and police responsible for the mayhem as their negligence deteriorated the situation.

The committee recorded statements of policemen, traders, administration personnel along with the members of both the groups present on site. The team has, however, not sent the report to the Chief Minister yet for the sake of further investigation.

It is likely that the probe report will be submitted in the next 72 hours to the CM Punjab.
