ISLAMABAD: The ministry of law has issued a notification for the appointment of Akram Sheikh Advocate as prosecutor in former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf treason case, Geo News reported.
According to the notification issued here Monday, Akram Sheikh will lead the prosecution team against Musharraf in the treason case.
It is pertinent to mention here that the federal government had requested the chief justice of Pakistan to constitute a three-member special court to hear the treason case against Musharraf.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had approved a panel of three judges for the establishment of a special court for the trial of Musharraf for high treason under article 6 of the Constitution.
The special court will be headed by Justice Faisal Arab from the Sindh High Court (SHC), while Justice Syeda Tahira Safdar of the Balochistan High Court (BHC) and Justice Yawar Ali of the Lahore High Court (LHC) will be its members.
