MOU with Russian Co. to convert 2 power plants to coal next week

KARACHI: Russian Company JSC Technopromexport will convert two power plants of 1400 megawatt fired by furnace oil to coal, Geo News reported.

Sources said that a memorandum of understanding (MOU) would be signed next week with Russian company in this regard.

Federal secretary for water and power, Saifullah Chatta told Geo News that Jamshoro Power Plant of 800 MW and Guddu Power Plant of 600 MW present fired by furnace oil would be converted to coal-fired. He said that the relevant MOU would be inked next week.

Secretary water and power said that the Russian company JSC Technopromexport has also expressed its willingness to set up a power plant of 600 MW in Balochistan’s Coal Power Park.
