CHAMAN: At least one person was killed and several others injured in two blasts here on Thursday.
The first blast took place on Trench Road which is a central area of Chaman where shops and businesses are located. TV footage of the area showed several shops and vehicles damaged in the blast. At least one person was killed and 12 others injured in the blast.
Police confirmed that the bomb had been planted on a motorcycle which was parked outside a bank.
Approximately an hour and a half after the first blast, a second blast took place in the same area when members of the bomb disposal squad were trying to defuse a bomb planted on a motorcycle. Three policemen including a SHO and two members of the bomb disposal squad were injured in the blast.
Police and FC had been placed on high-alert in the area ahead of the local bodies elections scheduled to take place on December 7.
