KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) Monday reserved judgment on former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s plea for removal of his name from the Exit Control List (ECL), Geo News reported.
Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto were hearing the petition of former president General (retired) Pervez Musharraf praying removal of his name from the ECL.
During the hearing, Justice Sajjad Ali Shah observed that if Pervez Musharraf wanted removal of his name from the ECL, he should talk to the government.
Attorney General Munir A. Malik and the counsel of Pervez Musharraf, A. Q. Halepota appeared before the court.
A.Q. Halepota said that the former president’s mother was sick and he wanted to go abroad to inquire about her health, but in view of the SHC order, the government has put his name on the ECL.
Justice Sajjad Ali Shah in his observation said that the court hasn't given any order to put his name on the ECL and added if you wanted to get his name removed from the ECL, you should talk to the government.
Pervez Musharraf’s counsel recalled that the this very bench had restrained him from traveling abroad until his appearance in the trial court, while Pervez Musharraf has already obtained bail in all cases against him.
Attorney General Munir A. Malik said that the proceeding against Pervez Musharraf under Article 6 of the constitution was also underway. He said that this bench of SHC does not have the authority to hear this petition, while the decision on the petition of Pervez Musharraf for the removal of his name from ECL is expected to be announced today.
