QUETTA: The valley here on Saturday received first snowfall of the winter season that sent the mercury sliding down to minus 7 degree centigrade and the resultant cold waves reaching Karachi also suddenly took the city in its grip, as the temperature went down to 8.7 degree Celsius, Geo News reported.
Meteorological Department has forecast more snowfall for Quetta and its adjoining areas in the next 24 hours.
Gilgit Baltistan also witnessing chilled weather after receiving light rain on the mountains, while the sky remains clouded. Several cities of Punjab and Sindh including Multan, Muzaffargarh, Gujranawala and Sargodha remained blanketed by fogs even today.
The demand for gas cylinders and woods that people generally use for keeping them warm in the chill weather has shot up taking the prices beyond their reach causing much immense convenience to the poor citizens living in the hills and valleys.
