ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain brushing aside a question related to Musharraf said that today was the birthday of the Quaid-e-Azam and pleasant things should be discussed.
Following a ceremony on the occasion of Quaid’s birth anniversary at the President House here, Mamnoon Hussain was talking to the media.
Federal Information Minister, Senator Pervaiz Rashid was also present on this occasion.
When questioned by Geo News correspondent, Arshad Chaudhry whether former president Musharraf’s trial for derailing democracy was proof that democracy in the country stands strengthened, President Mamnoon Hussain smilingly replied, “Today was a great day—the birthday of the Quaid-e-Azam, let us talk about pleasant things.”
He said Pakistan should learn from the experiences of Turkey relating to democracy and added that the Turk President had told him that his country had 400 percent inflation on his ascension to power, but with the strengthening of democracy and its successes it has plunged down to 4 percent only.
President Mamnoon Hussain said that the President House would be made the nucleus of national ceremonies.
