Musharraf files intra-court appeal against special court
ISLAMABAD: Former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf has filed an intra-court appeal against the special court constituted to try him for treason on Tuesday, Geo News reported.

The petition was filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against Justice Riaz Ahmad Khan’s decision who had rejected all three pleas by Musharraf against the special court formed to try him for treason.

It also urged the court to restrict the special court from functioning and stated that Musharraf should also get a chance of fair trial. Therefore, the trial should be carried out in a military court.

The petitioner alleged that the constitution of a special court is the combined conspiracy by the prime minister and former chief justice of Pakistan, hence, it should not be allowed to work.

It may be mentioned that Musharraf had raised objections over the appointment of judges and prosecutor in the special court.

On December 23, Justice Riaz Ahmad Khan had declared the requests inadmissible.
