KARACHI: At least 12 people including two policemen have been killed in the fresh wave of targeted killing in the city, Geo News reported on Saturday.
Unknown armed men opened fire on Rashid Minhas Road early morning and killed two brothers. The deceased were the students of a seminary, sources told.
Two more men were targeted and killed in Sohrab Goth and Gulshan-e-Hadeed while a body was also found from Baldia Town.
After the killings on Rashid Minhas Road near Centrum Mall, tension gripped the adjoining areas while the traffic was also suspended on the main roads leading to Nipa and Gulshan Chowrangi. Protesters demonstrated against the violent incidents and blocked the road by setting tyres on fire.
The students of Karachi University faced commotion as the Nipa Road was also blocked by the demonstrators and they did not allow the students to proceed towards the university where they had to appear for B.Com Islamiat paper today.
Earlier on Saturday night, three people were killed and five others sustained bullet wounds after unidentified gunmen opened fire on a juice shop near Maskan Chowrangi.
The dead included two brothers, the sources added. The deceased were identified as Nadir, Abdul Wahid and Hussain Ali.
Unknown gunmen opened fire on police mobile, killing two cops and injuring another on Saturday evening.
