If Musharraf were a treasonist then why did Gilani take oath: Altaf
LONDON: Altaf Hussain, the London-based head of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Wednesday night said that former president of Pakistan, Gen (Retd) Pervez Musahrraf, who was now being dubbed as treasonist, had sworn in a former prime minister and his 24-member cabinet on March 31, 2008, Geo News reported.

"My question is why did they take oath to their respective offices when they believed that the man who is swearing them in was a traitor? This hypocrisy doesn’t add up at all," said he in a statement issued here.

He said 11 of those two dozen members, who had taken oath on that day, belonged to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), nine were from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), two represented Awami National Party (ANP), while one of them was a Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam leader.

Stressing his point further, Hussain called into question former premier, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani’s, oath-taking when PPP came into power in 2008.

"If Musharraf had really violated allegiance toward his country then why did Gilani get himself sworn in by the former”, said MQM leader.
