Karachi: 2 fugitives among 13 nailed in predawn policing
KARACHI: A police operation against the violent criminals Sunday culminated in the arrests of 13 suspects, with two of them fugitives, following a number of predawn raids in the seedy districts of Karachi, Geo News reported.

The law enforcers launched a series of busts against serious offenders before daybreak zeroing in on Orangi Town’s Pirabad and Dalmia’s Shanti Nagar areas, notorious for housing the most coveted hideouts for felons.

On the face of it, Pirabad operation turned out to be more fruitful than the Shanti Nagar's as at least 13 suspects with a couple of wanted proclaimed offenders, who had fled the police custody, landed in the hands of law. The detainees are under interrogation.

Sources said the arrests were a continuation of the ongoing operation targeted at the outlaws involved in crimes of violence ranging from mugging to murder.

On the other hand police did not disclose the details of its search operation in Shanti Nagar.

According to Gulshan-e-Iqbal police chief the police took action in Shanti Nagar area following intelligence reports. He refused to comment on whether arrests were also made during that operation.

“The police patrolled the area by setting up checkpoints at the entry and exit points.I cannot offer you anymore details”, said he.

Sources also told Geo News that some neighborhoods of Dalmia were also combed by the police, the details of which are only known to police.
