ISLAMABAD: Former President, Asif Ali Zardari has been granted permanent exemption from appearing before the accountability court hearing the references against him.
The former president’s counsel, Farooq H. Naek said his client would appear before the court whenever summoned.
During Saturday’s proceedings, Zardari had submitted petitions in the court seeking acquittal in all five references against him.
Farooq H. Naek filed the petitions for acquittal of his client in the references that included polo ground, SGS, Cotecna, ARY and Ursus tractors and, thereby, the indictment in the two references was put off.
The court issuing notice to NAB, fixed the hearing of the petitions on February 3.
