Dr Asim likely to be indicted on January 19

 

KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Friday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Waseem Akhtar, Saleem Shehzad, Anees Qaimkhani and Qadir Patel while hearing the case against Dr. Asim Hussain the former petroleum minister and close aide of former president Asif Ali Zardari. 

Hussain was presented before the ATC where the investigation submitted its report pertaining to arrests of fugitives in the case. 

The report states that while Usman Moazzam has been apprehended efforts are being made nab four others. 

During Friday's proceedings, Dr Asim’s counsel prayed that his client be shifted to a private hospital for medical treatment.

The court directed the concerned authorities to provide medical facilities to Dr Asim, and adjourned the hearing till January 19. It is expected that Dr Asim will be indicted on next hearing.

Meanwhile, the court also extended the pre-arrest bail of MQM leader Rauf Siddiqui till January 19.
