LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has thrown his weight behind peace talks with the Taliban, and said that there are certain Taliban factions that are hampering the peace process.

Khan who spoke with reporters here on Saturday said such groups are being assisted by anti-state elements.

The PTI chairman emphasised the need to make the dialogue process successful calling for attacks on security forces to stop and committees to strive for a ceasefire.

Imran Khan asked what other options were available if talks were unsuccessful and the ensuing military operation failed. He said the military operation will create more hurdles.

Khan added that those who left the Taliban team have lost their credibility.

The PTI chief questioned what ANP and PPP did during their five years in power and said that national institutions suffered the most during the present governance.
