Special court dismisses all petitions of Musharraf

ISLAMABAD: The Special Court has rejected all the petitions of former president Gen. (retd) Pervez Musharraf against formation of court and biasness of judges in treason case, Geo News reported.

A three-member special court headed by Justice Faisal Arab was hearing the pleas here on Friday.

In its short order, the court observed that pleas of Musharraf were not on merit.

The former president had filed pleas against constitution of special court, nomination of judges (accusing them of bias against him) besides formation of the case.

The counsels of Musharraf, Anwar Mansoor Khan and Khalid Ranjha continued their arguments on the pleas of their client for nearly two months.

Advocate Akram Shaikh had given his arguments in the case as prosecutor.

The special court had reserved its verdict on these pleas on Feb 18 after completion of the arguments.

The court, later, adjourned the hearing till March 11.

The judges have set March 11 as the date to indict the former general, who was ordered to appear in person to hear the charges being read out against him.

He was first ordered to appear before the tribunal on December 24, but has missed repeated hearings since then due to bomb scares and health problems that saw him complain of a heart ailment.

Musharraf became the first former army chief to come before court when he appeared on February 18.
