Pakistan not to intervene or send weapons to Syria: Aziz
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs and National Security, Sartaj Aziz says Pakistan will neither intervene nor send weapons to Syria.

Briefing the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, Aziz said Pakistan needed to maintain a balance in ties with Saudi Arabia and Iran.

The Foreign Affairs Advisor informed the committee that Saudi Arabia had given Pakistan $1.5 billion as a gift with no strings attached. Aziz added that there had been no change in Pakistan’s foreign policy.

The committee approved a resolution condemning terrorist incidents in China.

Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry told the committee 3,448 passports had been issued on an emergency basis to facilitate the return of Pakistanis living illegally in in Saudi Arabia. Chaudhry added that Pakistan was negotiating with Saudi authorities for the return of Pakistanis living illegally in Saudi Arabia.
