ISLAMABAD: International Commission of Jurists has called for a life imprisonment for Pakistan’s former military ruler Gen (retd ) Pervez Musharraf instead of capital punishment if the former strongman is proven guilty in treason case.
ICJ Asia Director Saam Zarifi in a statement on Monday dubbed the trial against Musharraf a rare move in the legal and political history of Pakistan.
He said that Pakistan’s judiciary had an opportunity to prove that every accused has a right of fair trial and nobody is above the law.
