LAHORE: Former Law Minister, Babar Awan Friday said the treason trial of General (retd) Pervez Musharraf was about to witness a ‘logical conclusion’.
“The hosts are ready; so are guests and the plane,” he said while talking to media persons here at Lahore airport.
He claimed that the ‘mother of National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO)’ is being worked out with an aim to let Musharraf off the hook.
“If judges who supported the steps taken by Musharraf were put to trial, we would witness well-known lawyers fighting their cases,” Awan predicted.
He said the failure to begin proceedings in connection with the reference filed for reopening the Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s case is a big blot on the justice system in place.
Babar Awan ruled out reaching a judgment in Musharraf’s case without first disposing of the Bhutto’s reference.
