LARKANA: A woman lost her life and another sustained injuries as a result of a stampede caused by over-crowdedness and mismanagement at a cash giveaway under government’s Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) here on Saturday.
A large number of poor women turned up outside a private bank located on VIP Road Larkana to receive installments of cash aid under BISP.
The huge crowd of females attempted at the same time to reach the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) which led to a strong pushing and shoving and caused several of them to fall on the ground.
A 55-year old woman died while two others were hurt. They were rushed to Chandka Medical College and Hospital.
The bank administration blamed the women for not maintaining discipline by forming a queue which resulted in the tragic incident
