NAWABSHAH: At least two people were killed and over 70 injured when a 4.5 magnitude earthquake hit Nawabshah and surrounding areas.
The earthquake destroyed several houses as the injured including women and children were shifted to hospitals where an emergency was declared.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Irfan Kathia said that all schools would remain closed in the district today (Friday) and intermediate exams which were scheduled have also been cancelled.
The quake jolted Nawabshah and its adjoining areas at about 3:55 AM. The epicenter of the earthquake was 27 km North East of Nawabshah with the depth of 15 km.
The aftershocks continued to shake the quake-hit area, triggering panic in the region.
