DELHI: Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Delhi Daredevils by eight wickets (D/L method) in an IPL encounter on Saturday.
In a highly rain-affected contest, Hyderabad chased down a regularly-reduced target in 4.2 overs to win the match.
Rain delayed the start of the run-chase and that resulted in the innings being reduced to 15 overs.
The revised target was 117 for Hyderabad. But rain again disrupted proceedings. Once play resumed, the target was again revised to 97 and Hyderabad had to get there in 12 overs.
But rain further affected play and the final target was 43 in five overs, but Hyderabad were at 17 for one after two overs. It became a sort of farce in the end, but Hyderabad were always on course to chase down the ever-decreasing target.
Eventually Hyderabad got to the target with 4 balls to spare. NV Ojha made it look easy with a three ball 13 with 2 sixes.
Earlier, Delhi Daredevils posted a modest total of 143 for seven in their 20 overs.
Dinesh Karthik top-scored with 39 off 30 deliveries and Kevin Pietersen scored a 19-ball 35 while opening the innings.
Amit Mishra got his 100th wicket in the IPL. In doing so, he became only the second bowler to do so. He got two wickets for 23. Dale Steyn and Moises Henriques also took two wickets each for Hyderabad.
