Political parties react strongly against PTI’s agitation
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s protest campaign has drawn a strong reaction from the leadership of a number of political parties with some of them terming it a highly untimely move.

Being critical on Imran Khan’s protest agenda, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had to ask him as to ‘what this protest is all about’. “If the country is already on a path to progress, then it should be allowed to move forward,” he had said.

The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, one of the allies of the government, also lambasted PTI saying taking to the streets on the basis of the alleged rigging in just four constituencies was unfathomable. Let alone others, the Jama-e-Islami (JI) which is the coalition party of PTI in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, also expressed its disagreement of views on the idea of this protest campaign.

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), which represents the main opposition in the parliament, termed the Imran Khan’s PTI-led agitation as premature and advised Khan not to become the reason for derailment of democracy.
