KARACHI: US citizen Joel Cox’s lawyer told the court on Monday here that his client was on a special mission in Pakistan and, as such, he was permitted to carry arms.
Joel Cox was presented before the Malir Judicial Magistrate under strict security measures. He is charged with possession of illegal arms.
Joel Cox’s lawyer, Barrister Zahid said that his client was on a special mission in Pakistan and he was allowed to carry arms with him besides any misuse of the arms hasn’t been proved.
A special letter of the US embassy in Pakistan was also submitted before the court in this regard.
Later, the court ordered verification of the US embassy letter from the interior ministry.
It may be recalled that Joel Cox was detained after airport security force (ASF) found him carrying ammunition and three knives as he was about to board a flight for Islamabad.
