LAHORE: It seems as Gen Zia era has comeback since journalists and their families are being threatened again, says senior journalist and Geo News anchor Hamid Mir on Sunday.
Speaking by telephone at Lahore Press Club, he said that the democracy had become ineffective as the government only condemned attacks on journalists and avoided arresting culprits.
He said that there should not be an iota of doubt about the identities of culprits after an attack on resident editor of Jang in Multan.
“These are the same people who attacked Hamid Mir on April 19 as they want to snatch freedom of press at gunpoint, but they are mistaken,” he said.
Mir said that as to why the government was not unveiling names of those pulling strings of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Dr Tahirul Qadri.
“Not only media we are fighting for the protection of Pakistan”, he said.
