Taseer says 'not afraid of conspiring group'...
LAHORE: Governor Punjab Salman Taseer, in a letter he wrote to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, said a judicial commission be constituted for probing the matter of alleged murder conspiracy of the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court.

“I deny the ownership of this matter and Chief Justice should constitute a special judicial commission for investigating the drama for reaching the consequence,” Governor Punjab wrote in the letter.

He was addressing a press conference here at Governor House on Saturday accompanied by PPP Punjab acting Presiding Samiullah Khan, Secretary Information Dr Fakhaurd Din, Ch Asghar Gujar and other leaders.

The Governor said that judiciary should probe the matter and bring to light the facts. He said that this plot was revealed by a report compiled by special branch which held the governor responsible for alleged murder plot of Chief Justice of Lahore High Court.

He said Governor is representative of federation and constitutional head of province and asked why would he be involved in a plot like that?

Salman Taseer said that Chief Minister's Secretary Dr Tauqir Shah let this report leak out and that the Chief Minister should now come forward and clarify whether or not the report was leaked with his permission.

He said that Maj (Retd) Mushtaq, Jehanzeb Barki and Rana Maqbool were real conspirators behind this matter. This group has secret relations with banned outfits and they were attacking democracy and federation.

He said he was not afraid of what he called a conspiring group comprising Rana Maqbool, Maj. Mushtaq and Jehanzeb Barki.

“Babar Ashraf, Khawaja Farooq and other culprits who were involved in the murder conspiracy of Chief Justice Lahore High Court all belong to PML-N,” Punjab Governor said. He clarified that he holds the Lahore Chief Justice in high regard and that he is a good man by nature, whose office tenure is to expire soon.
