Scotland Yard drops probe in Altaf ‘hate speech’ charges

LONDON: Scotland Yard Wednesday announced to scrap investigations against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) supremo Altaf Hussain for ‘inciting violence’.

According to a statement issued here, Scotland Yard stated that Altaf Hussain’s (Teen Talwar) speech did not have anything that goes against the UK laws.

On the other hand, Crown Prosecution Service said that they did not have enough evidence to establish a case against Altaf Hussain for ‘inciting violence’, announcing that there will be ‘no further action’ against Altaf Hussain on the speeches made after 11th May elections.

They said complaints had been received on Altaf Hussain’s speech delivered at Teen Talwar, Karachi.

Special crime and Operation officers had reviewed the speeches of London based MQM leader and found nothing against the UK laws.

It may be noted here that Scotland Yard had launched investigation against Altaf Hussain for allegedly inciting violence in May 2013.
