Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk takes oath as new CJP
ISLAMABAD: Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk was sworn in as Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) in a ceremony held at the President House on Sunday here..

President Mamnoon Hussain administered the oath to Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chairman Joint Chief of Staff, Chiefs of the three armed forces attended the ceremony along with several high ranking government officials, dignitaries, senior lawyers and judges of the Supreme Court, Federal Shariat Court, Islamabad High Court (IHC) and the Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench

Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk will remain Chief Justice of Pakistan till August 16, 2015 according to the Supreme Court.

Profile:

Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk hails from Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and did his Bar-at-Law from the Inner Temple, London in 1976.

He delivered lectures at the Khyber Law College Peshawar and Peshawar University besides delivering lectures as guest speaker at the NWFP Provincial Services Academy Peshawar.

He practiced as an advocate in all fields of law for more than 17 years until his elevation as judge of the Peshawar High Court.

He also remained Chief Justice Peshawar High Court for some time before his elevation as judge of the Supreme Court.

He was elected as Secretary General, Peshawar High Court Bar Association, in 1981.

He was also elected twice as President of the High Court Bar Association, Peshawar, in 1990 and 1993. He also remained Advocate General NWFP in 1993.

He was appointed judge of the Peshawar High Court on June 4, 1994 and elevated as Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court on May 31, 2004.

He was appointed a judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on April 5, 2005. He also remained Chairman Federal Review Board of Pakistan since 2009.

Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk also participated in international symposiums, including the International Judicial Training Conference Barcelona, Spain 2007, World Justice Forum II Austria Centre Vienna 2009, The International Association of Supreme Administrative Jurisdictions (IASAJ) 2010, Congress Sydney & Canberra Australia.

He also headed the delegation of judges and the legal fraternity of the country to visit to the United States of America in 2013.
