ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Sunday said by-elections would be organized in case any party or legislator tendered resignation(s) from National or provincial assembly seat(s).
The officials of ECP here made it clear that by-polls will be held within 60 days if any provincial or national assembly seat was vacated as a result of resignation by any political party or member of assembly.
They recalled that by-elections had been conducted last year as well on 42 seats.
The announcement from ECP comes at a time when the country’s political scene is abuzz with speculations that Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) may announce to resign from their seats on August 14.
