215 villages flooded, as bunds of Sehwan, Bhan under pressure
DADU: The water torrents emanating from Manchhar Lake, has contributed to 16-foot water level at Zero Point of Indus Link Canal, Geo News reported Monday.

The protective embankments of Sehwan and Bhan Saeedabad are under massive water pressure, as water is pouring in less quantities out of the Lake that gained one more inch to its water level. This raised level has led to the inundation of road between Sehwan and Bajara city, cutting the link between the two cities.

According to the officials of Irrigation Department, the water gushing out of the Lake has inundated at least five more villages, raising the number of deluged villages to 215.

The jawans of Pak Army and Navy are busy with evacuating the stranded people to safer locations, as at least 1600 marooned people have thus far been shifted to safe places. However, hundreds of people are still stranded in the floodwater.

The flood tide has caused 1680 houses to collapse in Tehsil Sehwan, with ground links of Tehsil Juhi still cut off on 21st consecutive day today.

Khairpur Nathan Shah is still sunk under seven to nine feet of water, with the adjacent 20-km portion of highway submerged under water.

Meantime, the districts of Dadu between Jamshoro are cut off, as the national Highway linking Bhan Saeedabad and Sehwan has sunk under water.
