ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif telephoned Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari and exchanged views on prevailing political situation in the country, Geo News reported.
On the other hand, Asif Zardari called Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Ameer Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Sirajul Haq.
In his conversation with Imran Khan, Zardari reiterated PPP’s endorsement to PTI’s demand for a vote recount in four constituencies of Lahore.
The PPP Co-chairman said no one should be given opportunity to derail the ongoing democratic process in the country. “Democracy will be safeguarded and promoted,” he added.
He said the government should desist from taking irrational steps which may destabilize the democratic set up in the country. ‘The government should avoid taking arbitrary actions,” he added.
